Fun Things to Do in the Triangle This Weekend, Dec. 1-3
Stroll through one of Raleigh's most historic neighborhoods while you browse fun pieces by local artisans.

This weekend has lots of fun in store: Music and dance exploration for preschoolers at the Duraleigh Road Community Library in Raleigh, Christmas tree-lighting ceremonies in lots of Triangle towns, breakfast with Santa in Durham, a bird-watching hike in Raleigh, an art market in Raleigh's Boylan Heights neighborhood and pay-what-you-can admission day at Kidzu Children's Museum in Chapel Hill.
Music Together FREE
Experience a FREE Music Together demonstration class presented by SproutSongs Music 10:30-11 a.m., Dec. 1, at the Duraleigh Road Community Library. Attendees will be singing, dancing, chanting, playing instruments and being silly. This activity is intended for ages 5 and younger, and preregistration is suggested.

Dec. 1 is the night for area tree-lighting ceremonies. Lots of towns in the Triangle have them scheduled and have other fun activities planned to go along with the lighting. Check here to see if your town has a big tree lighting event going on this weekend.

Put on your best pajamas and join Santa and Mrs. Claus Dec. 2 at C&H Cafeteria in Durham for a pancake breakfast featuring holiday-themed activities and a sing-a-long. Tickets are $10 and are required for each attendee eating breakfast. Adults and children under 12 months not eating breakfast are admitted free. You’ll enjoy special-recipe pancakes, photo opportunities and interactions with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, an activity table, a pajama party and door prizes. Tickets are available for several time slots starting at 8:30 a.m. with the last seating at 9:30 a.m. You will not be admitted until your reserved time. Event proceeds support Exchange Family Center, which focuses on the prevention of child abuse and neglect.

Birding With Vernon FREE
Join Lake Crabtree County Park’s bird enthusiast, Vernon, for an easy walk along the trail while looking and listening for feathered friends. Discover different types of birds and their habitats. This program takes place 8:30-10 a.m., Dec. 2, and is FREE. No preregistration is required.

Take a stroll through one of Raleigh’s most historic neighborhoods Dec. 3 anytime between noon and 5 p.m., and shop for local artwork from front yards, side yards and front porches of the homeowners in the area. This 25th anniversary year will feature more than 100 artists and craftspeople selling a wide range of glasswork, jewelry, metalwork, woodwork, textiles, clothing, ceramics, photography, painting and other art just in time for holiday gift-giving or adding the right piece to spruce up your home. Maps are available at the corner of Cabarrus Street and S. Boylan Avenue.

Dec. 3 is the first Sunday of the month, so that means admission at Kidzu Children’s Museum is on a donation basis. Visitors can check out old favorite experiences and new ones like The Makery, Gravitron, Build Guild, Farm to Fork, the Flexible Forest, Forest Theater and the Book Nook. Kidzu Children's Museum is open 1-5 p.m., so there will be lots of time to explore.
