Preschoolers and their caregivers can learn new ways of to look at art together in an innovative program taking place this week at the North Carolina Museum of Art.

This week, learn about New Year celebrations around the world at Historic Yates Mill County Park in Raleigh, check out Wacky Wednesday Storytime at the Southwest Regional Library in Durham, and discover new ways to look at art with your preschooler at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh.
In America, we celebrate the new year on Jan. 1, but did you know that in China they celebrate the new year on a different date? At this FREE event, learn about new year traditions around the world and make a Chinese New Year lantern to take home. Drop in anytime between 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. on Jan. 2 at Historic Yates Mill County Park in Raleigh to participate. Registration is not necessary.

Bring your preschooler over to the Southwest Regional Library in Durham for Wacky Wednesday Storytime and get silly with Ms. Olivia. She will lead you through a fun story and some wacky songs on Jan. 3, 10:30-11 a.m. No preregistration is necessary.

Have fun while exploring art together at this North Carolina Museum of Art interactive preschool workshop. This session takes place on Jan. 4 at 10:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m. or 1:15 p.m. and focuses on people in art. Attendees will be introduced to a work of art from the museum and guided through activities that stretch the imagination. The program is intended for preschoolers ages 2-5 and their caregivers. The fee is $8 per child for museum members and $10 for nonmembers. Caregivers are free, and season passes are available. Preregister for the time slot you’d like to attend.
