Does the smell of gingerbread wafting from your oven fill your home each year? The Downtown Raleigh Alliance is accepting entries for its annual Gingerbread House Competition that welcomes bakers of all ages to show off their skills.
Both children and adults can enter the competition, and many entries will be featured at the Ipreo Raleigh Winterfest holiday celebration, noon-6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3. Children ages 14 and younger enter through the “kids category,” while those ages 15 and older enter the “adult category.” Taking part in the competition is free, and the deadline for submissions is Monday, Nov. 21.

Contestants are invited to fashion whatever their hearts desire, from houses to creatures culled from their imagination, using gingerbread, candies and other delicious edibles. The top creation in each category plus a "best in show" creation chosen by a panel of judges will each receive a downtown prize package.
