Enloe High Students Take Action Against Alcopops
Enloe High School students Barak Biblin and Amber Smith are taking a stand against Alcopops, sweetened alcoholic beverages that look and taste like sodas and are sold in grocery and convenience stores. Both students are members of Youth Empowered Solutions (YES!), which focuses on preventing underage drinking. Barak, Amber and their YES! adult coordinator, Aidil Ortiz Hill, got permission from nine Raleigh-area Circle K stores to apply red warning stickers to Alcopops cans or bottles on Nov. 17. This action was part of Project Alcopop Sticker Shock, designed to alert clerks and potential customers of the alcohol in the drinks.
