Celebrate Mother's Day all week long with these special activities for kids and their caregivers.

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 14, but you don’t have to wait to celebrate your family’s VIP. Enjoy these events and activities that let moms and other caregivers spend special time with their kids.
The Durham Bulls open a seven-game homestand at Durham Bulls Athletic Park Monday, May 8, and it includes a Trucks, Beats & Brews event (Wednesday, May 10), Friday Night Fireworks (Friday, May 12), the annual “Star Wars” Night (Saturday, May 13) and a Mother’s Day celebration (Sunday, May 14). In recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week, the club is offering free tickets to educators for games on Monday, May 8; Tuesday, May 9; and Wednesday, May 10. On Nurse Night (Friday, May 12), medical professionals enjoy reduced-price admission and other perks. Check out the team’s website for more details and ticket information.
This particular event isn’t held especially for Mother’s Day, but we know a lot of moms and kids (and dads) who’ll want to participate! Stop by the Haagen-Dazs at Northgate Mall in Durham for a free ice cream cone, 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 9.

Create a craft just for Mom as part of Hill Street’s Creative Crafts Throughout the Holidays series. The program is 5-6 p.m., Wednesday, May 10, at the Hill Street Community Center in Raleigh. The activity is free but advance registration (code #197397) is required. Ages 5-12.
Enjoy a Mother’s Day Tea courtesy of Flour Power Studios. Young chefs and their special caregivers come dressed up in their tea-party best and make Strawberry Tea Cakes, Little Ladybugs and Sparkling Lemonade, plus a salt-dough handprint memento. The event runs 10-11:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 10, and Thursday, May 11, at Flour Power Studios in Cary. Tickets are $49 per party.

Make Mom feel special at the Mother’s Day Tea Party, where children will create a special gift for their mother and enjoy tea/juice and cookies. This program runs 10-11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 11, at Greystone Recreation Center in Raleigh. Register online ($9; code #205695). Ages 18 months-4 years with a caregiver.
Enjoy a hilarious, heartwarming new story about raising a happy, healthy mom that is filled with charming role-reversal humor, creative ideas and lots of love! Activities will follow the story. This event takes place at 11 a.m., Friday, May 12, at the Triangle Town Center Barnes & Noble store; and at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 13, at the Triangle Town Center, Brier Creek Commons, Crabtree Mall and Cary Commons Barnes & Noble stores. Free.
Use Vincent van Gogh’s famous sunflower paintings as inspiration for a gift for mom or another special person in your life! Paint or collage a pot, then work alongside your family and friends to put together arrangements of real sunflowers. Then paint your floral creation, just like van Gogh! This event takes place 4-5 p.m., Friday, May 12, at Kidzu Children’s Museum in Chapel Hill. Ages 5-10. Pre-registration ($10) is recommended to secure your space and materials. Members receive 10 percent off.

Give your mom something special during this Mother’s Day craft event at the Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market. The market features local craft vendors, as well as local fresh vegetables, eggs, seafood, bread, prepared foods, flowers and more. This event takes place 8 a.m.-noon, Saturday, May 13, at the Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market. Admission is free.
Learn how to make a special snack for mom this Mother’s Day. Make a card, grow your own garden of paper flowers and celebrate moms everywhere with a day of play. This event takes place 2-3 p.m., Sunday, May 14, at Marbles Kids Museum in downtown Raleigh. Activities are free with Marbles admission ($5).
Celebrate Mother’s Day with a special Mommy and Me Yoga class. Mother and child create a special experience through yoga poses, games and a special craft to take home. This class takes place 4:15-4:45 p.m., Sunday, May 14, at the Briar Chapel Clubhouse in Chapel Hill. Ages 18 months-5 years. $12 per child. Register by emailing Emily@EmilyYogaNC.com by May 12.
