Day 13 — Harris Teeter Doubles: USO of North Carolina and Together in Education
Today, shopping at Harris Teeter gave me double acts of kindness

This morning I stopped at Harris Teeter to pick up a newspaper. I needed the coupons from the Sunday paper for a future act of kindness I am planning. While I was there I stumbled upon the fact that they were offering two different ways I could help. Harris Teeter is known for it’s Super Double coupon events. Today it gave me double acts of kindness.
First, as I was checking out, the woman at the register asked me if I’d like to donate to the USO. My ears perked up: a way to help! I immediately said yes. She asked me how much I wanted to donate and added it to my total. It was simple to do, and I love knowing the money was going to the USO of North Carolina. This is what it said on the sign by the register:
The USO of North Carolina strengthens America’s service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation.
Then I remembered another way shopping at Harris Teeter gives back. They have a program called Together in Education where you can link your VIC card to a local school. A percentage of your purchases of Harris Teeter items goes directly to the school of your choice. It’s easy to go online and link your card. The link has to be reactivated each year, so it might be a good time to check and make sure yours is still active. I checked mine when I got home and it had expired. With just a few clicks I had it reconnected to my son’s school.
Both opportunities were simple and easy to do. I like knowing having my VIC card linked will continue to collect money for his school throughout the year. I want to give my thanks to Harris Teeter for this double opportunity and for doing their part to help both the military and our schools.
