Calling All 'Canes Fans for Free Fun!
The Carolina Hurricanes Summer Fun Fest kicks off Friday, July 22, on the south lawn of the RBC Center, at 5:30 p.m., offering live music, inflatables and games, sledding on snow, discounted concessions, free giveaways and appearances by Stormy and the Eye Care Associates Storm Squad. Parking and admission are free.
Now in its fourth year, the Summer Fun Fest will feature a State of the Canes address, hosted by Hurricanes television play-by-play voice John Forslund and carried live on 99.9 FM The Fan at 8 p.m. Forslund will discuss the upcoming season with longtime Hurricanes forward Chad LaRose, and newly-named assistant coach Rod Brind'Amour.
Fans will also have their first chance to view available seat locations for 2011-12 full-season and 26-game ticket packages at the event. They can take part in the Hot N' Cold Eating Extravaganza during Summer Fun Fest, where participants race to eat a hot barbecue sandwich followed by an ice cream sandwich. The winner of the Hot N' Cold Eating Extravaganza will win two 12-game ticket packages for the 2011-12 season. There is a $10 entry fee for participation in the extravaganza, with all proceeds benefiting the Kids 'N Community Foundation. The Kids 'N Community Foundation also will be holding a silent auction during the event, as well as the Canes Mystery Magnet Pick-up for $20.
The Summer Fun Fest will wrap up with a viewing of the Hurricanes' come-from-behind win against Buffalo in Game 6 of the 2006 Eastern Conference Finals, beginning at 9 p.m. Visit http://carhur.com/cdz for details on the fourth annual Summer Fun Fest.
