The Justice Theater Project announces its 2020 Summer Camp Production of "Seussical, Jr."!
Each and every summer, The Justice Theater Project provides professionally run youth summer theater camps for the community. For over 20 years, camps have taken place at St. Francis of Assisi on Leesville Road in Raleigh.
THIS YEAR we move to Umstead Park UCC,in Raleigh as SFA renovates their facility.
This camp has 75 students, 10 professional staff and 15 high school and college counselors. Campers are placed in age-appropriate groups. Every morning, each group rotates to classes taught by area arts professionals, which include Art, Creative Drama, Youth Certified Yoga, Dance and Music. Every afternoon is spent rehearsing the show and attending classes. The camp culminates in a fully mounted production with costumes, lights, set and music.
At the Umstead Park UCC camp tuition assistance is awarded each summer during the 3-week camps. For tuition assistance please apply by April 15 each year, fill out a statement of need, and provide proof of income.
The second half of the summer is spent at the beautiful Emily K Center in Durham. JTP was the first camp to provide summer programming the year they opened in 2006. Campers attend the two-week program, The structure of the camp is the same as the St. Francis camp, with professional classes in the morning and afternoons spent in rehearsals. This camp also culminates in a fully mounted production.
All performances are free and open to the public. Scholarship applications must be received by April 15th each year.
