Puppetry Camp (Ages 7-13)

Date/Time

June 29, 2020 to July 3, 2020
09:00 AM until 12:00 PM

Description

Class Description

Your camper will learn about puppetry while exploring various visual and performing arts games and activities. Campers will participate in three 45 minutes classes through out the morning with our teaching artists.

Puppetry
Puppetry is one of the oldest forms of storytelling and uniquely crosses all cultural and linguistic barriers. It has been used for thousands of years as a way to pass down ancestral lore, teach allegories, provide entertainment and add meaning to ceremonies. Setting objects in motion is the heart of puppetry, but it can come in many forms - from shadow puppets, to masks, to marionettes - all bringing together both the visual and performing art forms. Join us as we explore this exciting world!

Special Notes
  • Please have markers, crayons, pencils, erasers, scissors, clear tape, rulers, toilet paper roll and cardboard available for your camper. Supply kits for other materials needed will be available for curbside pick up at Durham Arts Council the week before camp. Please note you must register by the Thursday before camp in order to receive your supply kit prior to the first day of camp. If for any reason you don't have any of the above supplies please let us know and we can include it in your kit.
