Families Needed to Host International Exchange Students
So many of life's lessons are taught outside the classroom; Hosting introduces your children at an early age to the culture and diversity of another country and takes the concepts of language class, world studies or geography out of the textbook and brings them to life right inside your home. Whether talking at the dinner table, shooting hoops, volunteering in the community or taking students on everyday errands, your children will absorb lasting memories that will influence the way they perceive the world forever!

Students are on a J-1 Visa, attend the local high school, demonstrate maturity and flexibility, good character and strong academic ability. Throughout their time in the U.S., students will be sharing their culture and values and are encouraged to bring pictures of their home country, cook their favorite meals for their host family and share holiday celebrations and traditions from their home country. ETC has students from more than 20 countries including Spain, Mexico, Japan, Germany, Italy, Brazil, China, Netherlands, Brazil, China, Mexico, Thailand, and France.
Our Host Families
Our volunteer host families provide international students with a window in which to view and understand American life and culture. Students are expected to act as a member of your family and will participate in daily activities and chores, bond with their siblings, and join in all family activities and gatherings. Host families are encouraged to treat students as members of their family and to provide them with the love and support they will need during their home-stay. Students return home with a greater appreciation for our country and are keen to share American customs with their family and friends. Host families undergo thorough screening and are assigned a local coordinator who will provide support to both the host family and the student throughout their experience. ETC is happy to provide references of former host families upon request.
Host Family Qualifications
Any family is eligible to host a student, whether you currently have children or not. Host Families must provide room, board, three meals per day, and a quiet place to study as well as present a caring and supportive environment for the student.
