All Aboard for Fun at Tweetsie's Ghost Train Halloween Festival
In the mood for a Halloween getaway that take you to beautiful fall foliage? Tweetsie Railroad, an amusement part set in Blue Ridge Mountains, hosts a Ghost Train Halloween Festival that is designed to thrill, chill and offer a frighteningly good time. The festival begins Friday, Sept. 30, and continues every Friday and Saturday night through Oct. 29 with a ghost train howling through the mountains.
If you have younger kids, take them during the day to Tweetsie's Wild West adventures, rides and attractions, which won't frighten them. Your older kids, however, may prefer the Halloween characters that emerge when the sun goes down. Hop aboard the Ghost Train and let engineer Casey Bones and his crew take you on a scary journey into the night. Visit The Boneyard and venture into the 3-D Maze and the disorienting Black Hole. Enjoy a spooky stroll through the Freaky Forest, and encounter scream-worthy surprises along a dark and desolate woodland pathway of terror.
Brave visitors can also tour the spine-chilling Haunted House and discover 13 spooky rooms, each one guaranteed to both startle and challenge the imagination.
Although some attractions are recommended for adults and older children, you'll find many shows and attractions for the youngest guests too. Kids can enjoy traditional trick-or-treating throughout the park. At the Haunted Palace Saloon, the spooktacular black light show is designed to enchant and amuse visitors of all ages. And at the Creepy Carnival, the family can take a spin on a variety of amusement rides. Dance with the Ghouls and Ghosts at the lively Halloween party on Tweetsie's Main Street.
The gates open at 7:30 p.m. Due to the popularity of this annual event, a limited number of tickets are available for each evening, so ordering advance tickets online is recommended. Admission is $28 for adults and children, while kids ages 2 and under are admitted free. Convenient print-at-home tickets are available at Tweetsie.com.
Tweetsie Railroad will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays Aug. 26 through Oct. 30. The park's daytime hours are 9 a.m.-6: p.m., and from 7:30-11:30 p.m. during the Ghost Train® Halloween Festival. October is particularly busy in the High Country as the fall foliage is at peak color, so you are advised to make your lodging reservations early.
