Goodguys Giant Automotive Festival
Hot rod enthusiasts will spin their wheels at the Goodguys Giant Automotive Festival April 15-17 at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. More than 1,500 candy-colored and chrome-plated vehicles through 1972 will be on display, as well as muscle cars, tricked-out trucks and classic cars. Enjoy a Nitro Thunderfest dragster exhibition, demolition derby, Kids Zone, model car make-and-take, vendors and more. Visit good-guys.com/ncn-2016 for a complete schedule. General admission is $17 for ages 13 and older, $6 for ages 7-12, and free for ages 6 and younger.
Taste 2016: Family Cookout at Maple View Farm
Maple View Farm in Hillsborough invites families to its diary and agriculture gem April 23, 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m., for hayrides, face painting, live music from Back Porch Orchestra, hot dogs from The Casing restaurant and Maple View Farm’s renowned ice cream. Kids can attend short, educational classes to learn about agriculture. Purchase tickets, $12.50-$80, online at tastetheevent.com/mapleview. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Durham branch of the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. Maple View Farm is located at 3109 Dairyland Rd., Hillsborough.

Open House at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine
It’s a day dedicated to animals at the North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine Open House on April 23, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Discover the latest techniques in veterinary care, tour the hospital and classrooms, visit with live animals, watch dog agility and mustang training events, and more.
