| Carolina Parent Writers Guidelines (last revised 12/2005) Carolina Parent is a monthly parenting magazine with a Triangle-wide circulation of 58,000. Each issue has a theme (see editorial calendar below), as well as regular features and departments. Our audience consists of parents, teachers, child-care providers and other advocates for children ages newborn through teens. Submissions from freelance writers are welcome and should be exclusive within our region. Reprints of articles from publications outside our region are also considered. We usually run several feature articles on topics related to our monthly theme. Features require thorough research (citing a minimum of three reliable sources), knowledge of our audience, and concise interviewing and writing skills. Articles on topics other than each issue's theme are also considered. We prefer articles and essays with local relevancy. Word counts for articles vary from 500 to 1,200 words. If you wish to query the editor, please include a story outline and, if possible, a writing sample. Please remember that we receive many more submissions than we can use. We may not be able to respond personally to every query. |
