Submitting Articles:
If possible, articles should be e-mailed in MS Word format.
Manuscripts should include the author’s name, address, social security number and daytime phone number on the first page of the story. Include the word count with the article. The editor reserves the right to edit for clarity, length and style. If major revisions are needed, you will be contacted.
Accompanying photographs with written permissions are welcome (black and white or color).
Deadlines:
Assignments are usually made three months before the date of the issue and are due on the 22nd of the month two months prior to publication. For instance, a story for the May issue would be assigned in February with a March 22 deadline.
Payment:
Fees vary depending on the length and depth of the story. We regret that we cannot offer our writers more in the way of compensation. Original manuscripts for feature articles generally pay $50-$75, and reprints pay $25-$40. Writers are paid following publication. We do not pay kill fees.
We use the Associated Press Stylebook and Webster's New World Dictionary.
